A Master Bathroom Transformation: Creating Two Modern Bathrooms
The Project Challenge
Why Two Smaller Bathrooms?
Maximizing Floor Space
Project Details
01. Planning and Design
We began by collaborating closely with the homeowners to understand their needs and preferences. The design included ample storage, efficient lighting, and hardware and fixtures.
02. Permits and Coordination
We had to get permits for this job, as we do for many of our projects. We handle the entire process from start to finish for the homeowners, gathering information, drawing sketches, and submitting permits with the town. We coordinate with local building, zoning, health, and wetlands boards to ensure compliance with all codes. Scheduling inspections that push the envelope allows us to set deadlines and keep the project on track. Myself or a project manager is always onsite for inspections to ensure everything goes well and details are communicated with building officials and homeowners. This time-consuming process is one we make look effortless, adding another reason to hire us.
03. Demolition and Framing
Our team carefully removed the old fixtures and partitions and then framed new walls to create the two separate bathroom spaces. This ensured that each bathroom had adequate space and a logical flow. We also stole some space from a bedroom closet to expand one of the bathrooms, ensuring both rooms were functional and spacious.
04. Plumbing and Electrical Work
Updating the plumbing and electrical systems was a crucial part of the project. Our professionals rerouted plumbing lines and installed modern electrical fixtures to ensure both bathrooms were well-lit and energy-efficient.
05. Plumbing and Electrical Work
All new tile, mirrors, vanities, fixtures, electric, plumbing, and paint were part of what we affectionately call a total gut renovation—everything had to come out and be replaced with new, high-quality materials. We installed modern fixtures, including sleek vanities, contemporary faucets, and spacious showers. One bathroom featured a mix of gray tiles in both herringbone and geometric patterns with striking gold fixtures, creating a luxurious and elegant feel. The other bathroom used classic white and blue tiles, offering a timeless and serene ambiance.
06. Final Touches
Finishing touches such as modern hardware, decorative lighting, and elegant accessories tied the design together, adding sophistication to both bathrooms. While different in style, each bathroom complemented the overall aesthetic of the home and catered to the family members using it.
