Lead Carpenter / Project Manager

This is our priority hire. As Lead Carpenter / Project Manager, you’ll be the lead on most of our projects, running the work on site, leading the crew, and managing the client relationship from start to finish.

It’s a hybrid role that pairs hands-on carpentry with day-to-day project oversight. Exceptional craft comes standard; the care you show clients and crew is what sets our best carpenters apart.

Pay range: $40–$50/hr, or higher for the right experience. Full-time, on-site across our Fairfield & Litchfield County projects.

Key responsibilities & skills

  • On-site construction. Execute the complex work, including framing, finish trim, and installations, and set the quality standard the rest of the crew builds to.
  • Project management. Track the budget, stay ahead of material lead times, and write change orders the moment scope shifts on site.
  • Team leadership. Direct the on-site crew, mentor junior carpenters, and coordinate subcontractors so the whole job moves as one.
  • Client relations. Be the homeowner’s main point of contact. Communicate progress clearly and make sure they leave genuinely satisfied.
  • Technical skills. Blueprint reading, safety-rule enforcement, and fluency with the tools we run on, including Excel and our builder software.
  • Soft skills. Strong time management, level-headed conflict resolution, and clear, confident communication under pressure.

As the company grows, we anticipate adding a second GM-level leader to run operations alongside our current one. It isn’t a day-one opening, but we’d rather know experienced operators early. If you lead teams and have a background in construction management, we’d welcome an introduction.
